Hume Housing’s Supported Housing program provides a vital safety net for customers experiencing or at risk of homelessness, offering transitional housing for up to 18 months.
What does the Supported Housing Program involve?
This program is delivered in partnership with a range of support agencies to ensure customers receive both housing stability and tailored case management support.
Customers in the program benefit from safe, secure housing, tenancy education, and support to understand their rights and responsibilities under the Residential Tenancies Act 2010.
Eligibility and Program Requirements
To access the program, customers must meet eligibility criteria for Social Housing based on residency and income status and be nominated by a partner agency.
While in the program, customers work closely with both Hume and their support agency to follow a clear case plan and exit strategy. This collaborative approach helps customers develop the skills and rental history needed to transition successfully into long-term, sustainable housing.
Hume collaborates with specialised support agencies through formal agreements, with these agencies nominating their clients for housing opportunities. Program participants face a wide range of challenges, including:
Hume Community Housing will manage the tenancy for the property, while the support organisation will provide ongoing case management, including comprehensive exit planning.
